Just in time for the temperatures to dip and with wintery weather on its way, the Town of Saranac, NY installed a new high-efficiency automated wood pellet boiler. Saranac Councilman Jerry Delaney Jr. reports that it is keeping the municipal facility comfortable and the town is thrilled to be using a local energy resource that keeps wealth in the region.

The Northern Forest Center provided a financial subsidy to the Adirondack town to help accelerate the cost savings of switching from oil to wood pellets. Our goal is to demonstrate the benefits of heating with wood to other municipalities, businesses and homeowners in order to catalyze the market for modern, centrally-located wood pellet boilers.
