Mountain bikers from all over New England have been busy visiting Borderlands destinations this summer!
Eighty riders attended the fourth “Tour de Borderlands” event at the Mahoosuc Pathways trails in Bethel, Maine. The event was co-sponsored by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine and held at the Bethel Village Trails hub, The Bethel Inn Resort. It featured group rides, clinics, and service and demo bikes from the Green Machine Bike Shop.
The Bethel event comes on the heels of a terrific Tour stop in East Hereford, Quebec, where 50 riders explored the long, adventurous backcountry trails at Circuits Frontieres before enjoying food truck fare and local beer in the sunshine.
The final Tour stops are at Kingdom Trails (East Burke, VT) on August 10 (to coincide with their 25th birthday party!), Craftsbury Outdoor Center (Craftsbury, VT) on September 8, and Coos Trails (Gorham, NH) on September 21. Details are on the Bike Borderlands Facebook page.
Many people are taking on the “Borderlands Challenge” outside of the formal events, visiting all seven locations and documenting their trips with photos of themselves on the trails and visiting local businesses. A Canadian couple finished first, sending their final photos on July 1 with this note: “We have completed the 2019 Tour de Borderlands! Great Countries, Great Province/States, Great Destinations, Great Place, Great People, Great Trails…. It is so nice to share the same PASSION!”
If that’s not enough of a motivator, we’re also giving hoodies, caps, and special finishers’ patches to the first 100 people who finish the challenge. See details at the Bike Borderlands website.
Keep sending and posting your Borderlands photos and stories, and have a great time on the trails. We hope to see you out there!
P.S. We’re psyched to give out rad Borderlands stickers at every event and grateful to our vendor, Sticker Mule, who helped us get logo stickers printed on time and on budget!
