Elevating Outdoor Recreation

The outdoor recreation economy has been a key driver in the Northern Forest for generations and continues to attract visitors and residents eager to explore the region’s mountains, rivers, lakes, trails, and communities. It involves respect for the natural environment, for local people and culture, and a willingness by all users to engage in the places and communities they recreate.

The Center elevates outdoor recreation by working on both sides of the equation. We work within communities to help them prioritize stewardship in their recreation planning, and we work with partners to develop campaigns that reach locals and visitors with a message of welcoming and stewardship.

We have also invested in improving the essential resources, quality services and activities that help make communities thriving places that attract visitors and serve residents.
