At Work in New York

In New York’s Adirondacks and other North Country areas, we’ve worked with wood products manufacturers, community recreation leaders, and communities eager to attract new residents, aiming to build community assets and businesses that are essential for thriving communities.

A Campaign to Create Homes for Workers and Families

Across the Adirondacks, teachers, nurses, and small business owners are struggling to find quality housing. Traditional affordable housing programs don’t serve this “missing middle,” fueling population decline and limiting economic innovation.

We’re addressing the housing crisis in Tupper Lake and Elizabethtown through Building Homes, Building Futures, a campaign that will fund construction of 15 new places for people to live. Find out how you can help create new quality housing that supports communities.

Where We Work

Attracting and Retaining Residents

The Center has launched an initiative to help communities attract a new generation of residents, retain current residents, and bring back young people who have left.

Sustaining robust populations is essential to maintaining the schools, workforces, civic leadership, and volunteerism that contribute to thriving communities.
