Gehring House

The Gehring House was constructed in 1896. It is one of the most architecturally and historically significant buildings in Bethel. The house served as the home of Dr. John George and Mrs. Marion True Gehring and the clinic where Dr. Gehring treated patients from all over the United States. Please visit the Museums of the Bethel Historical Society to learn more about this fascinating history.

Over the last year, the Northern Forest Center redeveloped the building to create nine new apartments. The newly renovated apartments feature historic woodwork, refinished original wood flooring, and modern kitchen amenities. The restored windows bring in abundant natural light. Many apartments feature historic fireplaces, though they are decorative and non-operable. The apartments abut trails for walking, biking, and skiing, as well as being a short walk from the downtown and schools. One-year leases are available. Full-time residency is required.
