Grants Available

The Center contributes ideas, support and expertise to people strengthening economic opportunity and environmental resiliency across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York, and that includes financial support.

We use our regional perspective and relationships with decision makers to increase the financial resources available for initiatives that will have a positive impact on the Northern Forest. We advocated for and have helped increase funding available through programs such as the Northern Boder Regional Commission, the Economic Development Administration, and the Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program.

Sometimes we distribute resources through grant programs that will help create a thriving and welcoming Northern Forest region sustained by innovation and environmental stewardship.

See below for grant programs administered by the Center. These shift with funding availability and each has its own criteria, deadlines and review process.

Current Grant Opportunities

The Northern Forest Center seeks to increase youth participation in low-cost, non-motorized outdoor recreation in rural communities across the Northern Forest of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. We are pleased to announce that we are seeking grant proposals from qualifying entities to advance this work. Download the request for proposals here. Proposals are due by March 13, 2026.
