The Center is offering two new resources for individuals and businesses working in the forest economy.

Today’s Northern Forest Economy – Webinar Series

Our newest webinar series. Today’s Northern Forest Economy, features industry experts and businesses leaders who explore topics that affect the forest products economy of our region, such as federal policies, workforce challenges, technological innovations, and forest stewardship.

In the first webinar, Telling the Forest Story, panelists shared how their businesses highlight forest stewardship, connect to community, and explain chain of custody in their marketing efforts. If you missed the session, a recording is available to watch at your convenience.

The second webinar, Heating Up: The Outlook for Wood Heat, will be held Oct. 19 from noon to 1:30 PM and will address the state of the wood heat sector in New England and New York. The webinar is free, but registration is required.

Telling Your Forest Story – Marketing Class

And starting Oct. 25, we’ll offer Telling Your Forest Story – Marketing Class, a free of charge six-week series featuring one workshop each week designed to help participants better understand and incorporate their wood-origin story into their business philosophy and marketing messaging.

Following the workshop series, each participating business will receive up to 10 hours of one-to-one technical assistance from a marketing expert to help put what they learned into practice in marketing their business.

Up to eight businesses will be selected to participate; application deadline is Oct. 20, 2022.

In addition to these programs focusing on the forest economy, the Center has an ongoing series of webinars on Building the New Forest Future, which addresses key topics for rural communities, such as broadband expansion, workforce development, and recreation on private lands.
