Advancing Strategies for Rural Prosperity
Center President Rob Riley and Board member Aaron Woolf were featured speakers at Investing in Rural Prosperity, an event hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in collaboration with the Federal Reserve Board of Governors on May 24.

The event highlighted a new framework for advancing shared economic prosperity in rural communities that was initially proposed in a book of the same title published by the St. Louis Fed last November. Rob Riley co-authored a chapter of the book on Fostering Rural Prosperity through the Stewardship Economy with Nils D. Christoffersen, executive director of Wallowa Resources in northeast Oregon. The book is available from the St. Louis Fed’s website.
At the NY Fed event, Rob and Aaron addressed ways to leverage natural assets to promote rural prosperity, based on the work the Center is doing across the Northern Forest, and on Aaron’s experience developing the Elizabethtown Bike Ranch in the Adirondacks. A recording of the event will be available on the NY Fed’s website in the near future.
Contributing Editor Jerry Hagstrom summarized the event in The National Journal Daily.
