Lancaster Redevelopment Heads Toward Spring Opening
The Center completed this project in July 2022. See the finished building or meet one of the building’s tenants in this video.
The Center’s redevelopment of the historic Parker J. Noyes building has reached the finishing stage in Lancaster, NH, where six new apartments and retail space will add to the vitality of Main Street.
Recent Work
Weiler Building Services of Conway is refinishing and polishing the hardwood floors that were removed before reconstruction and then reinstalled. In the first-floor space — which will house the Root Seller Marketplace and its nonprofit parent organization, Taproot Farm & Environmental Education Center — crews are laying the tile floor and finishing the ceiling.

Fall Line Painting of Franconia has completed the interior painting and carpenters from Commonwealth Construction of Lancaster and Hazen Hill Builders of Topsham, Vermont, are completing finish carpentry and installing cabinets in the apartments. NorthWoods Manufacturing of Lancaster will be next in to build and install the countertops. Garland Mill of Lancaster, construction manager for the project, has coordinated and overseen the work of dozens of companies collaborating on the redevelopment project.
Anyone interested in renting one of the new apartments should contact Program Director Julie Renaud Evans.
Impact Investing Makes Project Possible
The Center purchased the 3-story, 11,000-square-foot building to anchor its community investment work in Lancaster. The foundation-to-roof redevelopment has attracted investors who want to put their money to work to benefit the community while also receiving a financial return on their investment.
In addition to impact investments, the Center secured financing for this $3.2-million project from tax credits, public and foundation grants, and charitable gifts. Federal sources are contributing up to $300,000, or about 9 percent of the project; $2.9 million or 91 percent is expected to come from non-federal sources.
The project is an example of our strategy to stack multiple sources of capital to make a project possible.
