Night skiing and economic planning in Tupper Lake
Center staff helped the town of Tupper Lake land a $100,000 grant for improvements to the Tupper Lake Golf Club and for planning improvements to the town’s year-round recreation economy. Local cross-country skiers are already enjoying new lights installed to allow night skiing on the popular James C. Frenette Sr. Recreation Trails at the publicly owned club.
The Adirondack Smart Growth program of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation funded the project.
The Center’s support for Tupper Lake’s efforts to enhance the cross-country ski center is one element of our community investment work in Tupper Lake and other Adirondack communities. Other projects include recreation and trail connectivity planning efforts and downtown revitalization initiatives in Tupper Lake and elsewhere, as well as our regional Attracting New Residents initiative.
