Emilie brings to the Center a deep, lived connection to the Northern Forest region and more than a decade of communications experience across mission-driven organizations. A native of the Tug Hill region and northwestern Adirondacks, with family roots in New Hampshire and Maine, she joined the Center in 2026 as Director of Communications, drawn by the chance to put her career to work for the place she calls home.
Before joining the Center, Emilie spent eight years at North Country School and Camp Treetops in Lake Placid, NY, where she led Marketing and Communications, including a full institutional rebrand. She then founded Otter & Owl Media, a strategic communications consultancy serving nonprofits and mission-driven organizations. Emilie holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and an MA in Media Studies from Concordia University.
Outside of work, Emilie serves on the board of Northwaters Langskib, a wilderness canoe tripping camp in Temagami, Ontario, which she has been connected to since 2003. She lives in Saranac Lake with her two young children and her dog, and she spends her free time paddling, skiing, playing fiddle, and writing.
