Joe Fox joined the Center in the summer of 2022 as our Bike Borderlands Ambassador, promoting Borderlands destinations as well as our Ride With Gratitude campaign. In January 2023, Joe began as our full-time Outdoor Recreation manager. In this expanded role, Joe helps develop strategies and implement projects for the Borderlands program, community and region-wide recreation development, grant programs, and events, including our 2024 Outdoor Recreation Symposium in partnership with the Northern Borders Regional Commission.  

Joe has a BS in Recreation Resource and Ski Resort Management from Lyndon State College. Prior to joining the Center, Joe spent the last 17 years managing recreational programs for St. Johnsbury Academy and the town of St. Johnsbury. He has managed a wide variety of youth and adult programs and summer camps, raised funds for recreation areas, and previously worked in human services and hospitality. 

He is a certified mountain bike coach and Wilderness First Responder, as well as a founding member and current vice president of the Caledonia Trail Collaborative. Joe loves mountain biking and hiking and also enjoys backcountry skiing and snowboarding. Joe lives in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom with his wife Bryna and his “Chowbrador” Murray and adopted cat Lucy. Joe’s adult son and daughter, along with Bryna and Murray, are his absolute favorite adventure buddies.
