Wood products manufacturing is important to the Northern Forest region as part of the region’s culture and economy.

All along the supply chain for the industry—from forester and logger to trucker, mill worker and makers in the final production—people take pride in the quality of their work and the product they deliver.

The wood manufacturing industry provides 90,000 jobs and generates $3.4 billion in payroll across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York, contributing 7.3% of the four-state total in manufacturing sales. In many rural communities, jobs in the forest products supply chain are a substantial portion of the employment base.
