Promoting Modern Wood Heat Through Targeted Efforts
Feel Good Heat platform aids local agencies, organizations, and businesses in promoting modern wood heat in Vermont and Maine.
The Center’s Feel Good Heat campaign has partnered with Vermont and Maine groups to further promote modern wood heat to residential consumers and small business owners.
Growing Awareness of Efficiency Vermont Rebates
During the 2024-2025 heating season, the Center partnered with Efficiency Vermont to highlight the benefits of modern wood heat and drive online traffic to Vermont’s rebates webpage.
Through digital ads across Google and YouTube to Vermont customers, the campaign highlighted the benefits of wood heat for homeowners, communities, and businesses using multimedia assets developed in prior years. These assets included Vermont-specific profiles in the From Woods to Warmth video series such as homeowner Susan or small business owner Anni, as well as the How It Works, Our Future, and Take Care of Forests videos to emphasize the forest stewardship, local economic impact, and climate-friendly aspects of wood heat.
From November through February, the campaign generated 638,000 impressions, 240,000 viewers, and 326 clicks to Efficiency Vermont’s wood heat rebates webpage.

Promoting Wood Pellets Through “Maine Made” Campaign
For the 2025-2026 heating season, the Maine Pellet Fuels Association (MPFA) has partnered with the Center to promote the purchase of domestically produced Maine bagged pellets from participating retail stores.
Through digital ads across Google targeted to Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts customers, the MPFA campaign promotes Maine pellets and prompts individuals to fill-out an online form to request a free bag coupon redeemable at one of 27 participating retailers across the region. To date, the campaign has generated 9,400 clicks and over 1,600 form submissions. The campaign will continue running through October and November. With remaining funds, the campaign may initiate a re-engagement strategy for those who filled out the form during the fall.
Funding provided by the State of Maine Domestic Trade Grant.

Upcoming Efforts
The Center is working with partners to support legislatively chartered efforts to grow use of modern wood heat in Vermont and Maine.
We’re working with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (VT FPR) and Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC) to produce a promotional messaging video about wood heat and forest management as well as provide advisory assistance to VEIC for the development of updated wood heat reports and resources. Both objectives further the State’s implementation of the Vermont Forest Future Strategic Roadmap. This work is supported by a Northern Border Regional Commission grant to VT FPR.
The Center is participating in a stakeholder group supporting the enactment of LD 1212 which directs Efficiency Maine, in collaboration with the Department of Economic and Community Development, Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, and Governor’s Energy Office to work with representatives of the modern wood heating industry to study and make recommendations relating to the promotion and use of modern wood heating systems in the State.
