The Center brought the Community Destination Academy (CDA) to the Bethel/Mahoosuc area in Maine in fall 2019 to help community leaders understand emerging travel trends, enhance the area’s destination appeal, and capitalize on related economic opportunities.

The CDA helped the Mahoosuc region — consisting of the towns of Bethel, Woodstock, Newry, and Greenwood — to develop a five-part Sustainable Tourism Strategy to guide investment in destination amenities and marketing while also responding to local concerns about the potential of over-use and impacts on the environment and community character.
