Looking for a lower-carbon alternative to heating oil in Newport, Vermont’s Julie Raboin was thrilled to find a convenient, efficient Automated Wood Heat option.

Heating her old home with a modern wood system allows Raboin to feel good about contributing to the local economy and reducing her carbon footprint. Plus, she loves coming back to a cozy home after exploring the outdoors in winter.

The Center has provided incentives to Julie and more than 40 other homeowners and facilities in the Northeast Kingdom to help building owners switch from fossil fuels to locally produced wood pellets. Together, these Vermonters have contributed approximately $1.4 million to the regional economy since making the switch and cut carbon emissions by more than 1,500 tons.
