Our work in Vermont, particularly in the Northeast Kingdom, showcases this approach with collaboration across community lines, county lines and economic sectors to build the region’s appeal for visitors and new residents.

Northeast Kingdom
Essex, Orleans and Caledonia counties – known together as the Northeast Kingdom — are home to some of Vermont’s largest blocks of working forest, and are seeing new opportunity in the recreational, creative and food sectors, which are important to the region’s tourism economy.

Center’s Telling Your Forest Story marketing series wraps after four years and 32 graduated wood products business.
Center Offers Small Grants for Community Recreation
The Center is making it easier for Northern Forest youth to access outdoor activities by offering grants of $1,500 – $3,000 for a wide range of recreation programs and projects. The application deadline is March 13, 2026. Awards will be announced by or on April 10.
